I've never done yoga, where should I start?

If you check out our Class Descriptions page you'll find the perfect fit that's just right for your level, your wants, and your needs. Slow Flows, Hatha, and Restorative are great starting points tho.

I want to take class, do I need to pre-register online?

We recommend signing up prior to class, but it's not required.  We ask that you show up 5-10 minutes before class starts.  Signing up beforehand guarantees a spot in the class; it also helps expedite checking into class.

What should I wear? What should I bring?

Wear comfortable clothes. You want something you will be able to really move in rather than feeling constricted.

Please bring:

  • a mat - if you have one, but we do have mats for you to borrow free of charge..

  • water - which we also have for sale for $1 in case you forget.

  • yoga is generally done barefoot but if you prefer you can wear tight fitting socks. Socks do tend to slide off during certain poses.

What if I'm pregnant, can I still do yoga?

Absolutely!  What classes can you do?  It depends how long you've been doing yoga, and how far along you are.  You may be able to do a beginner yoga or hatha yoga (early pregnancy) class.

Some key items to keep in mind is that you should not lay on your spine once you've reached 20 weeks, take wider stances when in standing positions to aide in your balance and pelvic positioning, only open twists, and no deep compression in the hip flexor.

Arrive 5-10 minutes early to your first class to go over some modifications with your instructor.  You should consult with your physician beforehand.

What do you offer for seniors and children?

We've got it all covered, as we mentioned yoga IS for everyone! We offer Chair Yoga for Seniors and the less mobile and Kids Yoga.

If it's not on our current schedule, contact us, and we will recommend a class for you!

Do you have childcare?

During a lot of our classes we offer childcare..  One of our staff members  will watch your child/children while you take your class.  Fee is $5 per child. Parent must stay in the studio/class while the child is in our care.

Can I take a class if I'm injured or have a limitation physically?

If you feel as though your injury would prevent you from doing poses safely, we recommend you consult a doctor first.  Otherwise, please communicate your injury to the instructor before class and join us.

It's important to listen to your body and honor the healing period, which yoga can absolutely aid in.  Restorative Yoga is a format that is accessible even if you do have injuries or limitations.

I am not flexible. Can I still do yoga?

One hundred percent, yes!  Being flexible is not a prerequisite. Instructors offer progressions and modifications, which is why all levels are welcome in our studio space.
